Criteria for confirming a diagnosis of diabetes

There are three standard methods to confirm the diagnosis of diabetes: First, the diagnosis can be confirmed if there are obvious symptoms of hyperglycemia, such as fasting blood glucose over 7mmol/L when drinking more, eating more, and urinating with weight loss, or random blood glucose over 11.1mmol/L at any one time throughout the day. Second, if there are no obvious symptoms of hyperglycemia, the diagnosis can also be confirmed when the blood sugar exceeds the standard twice on different dates, such as fasting blood sugar exceeds 7mmol/L, or random blood sugar exceeds 11.1mmol/L. Third, glucose tolerance test, when the above two methods can not confirm the diagnosis, you can do 75g glucose tolerance test, after drinking 75g of glucose water, the blood sugar of two hours exceeds 11.1mmol/L, it can also confirm the diagnosis of diabetes.
