Difference between pancreatitis and cholecystitis

There are differences between pancreatitis and cholecystitis, and there are obvious differences in the nature of pain, pain location, causes of occurrence, concomitant symptoms, etc. Imaging is also useful for differential diagnosis, but of course there may be some connection between the two, as follows: 1. Pancreatitis: pancreatitis is mainly manifested as pain in the left mid-upper abdomen, mostly seen in patients with heavy drinking, overeating, hyperlipidemia, bile duct stones, and at the same time can appear The symptoms of abdominal distension, nausea, vomiting, and fever are often difficult to relieve. 2. Cholecystitis: Cholecystitis is mainly manifested as pain in the right upper abdomen, which can be vague or colicky, mostly seen when eating fatty foods or sleeping at night, and the pain can radiate to the back of the right shoulder, accompanied by fever, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal distension. Ultrasound and CT are commonly used imaging modalities to identify pancreatitis and cholecystitis. Significant elevation of blood and urine amylase can be seen during an attack of pancreatitis, and significant abnormalities of liver function can be seen during an attack of cholecystitis. The clinical appearance of pain in different parts of the body can be used to initially determine the cause of the disease based on the location of the pain. It has also been pointed out earlier that cholecystitis may cause pancreatitis, especially in patients with calculous cholecystitis, which may cause biliary pancreatitis. For patients with biliary pancreatitis, removal of the gallbladder should be considered after pancreatitis is controlled to avoid recurrence of pancreatitis.
