A long second toe is normal. Some people have a long second toe, some have a long bunion, and some have a curved toe, which are all normal. As long as the toe is not red, swollen, painful, or fractured, and you can walk normally, it is normal. If the toe is diseased, such as redness, swelling, abscess and throbbing pain, it is usually caused by a bacterial infection, and the abscess needs to be cut open under local anesthesia to drain the pus, the wound needs to be changed, and the toenail may have to be removed if necessary. This will facilitate the next medication change, and also requires oral antibiotics for treatment.
