I. Breast self-examination time
One week after menstruation.
Breast visual examination
1.Body position
In front of the mirror, take the position of arms down, arms crossed and arms up in turn.
2.Observation content
(1) Appearance: whether the bilateral mammary glands are symmetrical and whether there is any local bulge.
(2) Nipple: whether there is inversion, deviation, erosion, overflow.
(3) Breast skin: whether there is localized slight sinking of the skin (this is the “dimple sign”, an early sign of breast cancer), localized redness, and whether there is localized sinking of the skin.
(3) Breast skin: whether there is localized slight sinking of skin (this is the “dimple sign”, an early sign of breast cancer), localized redness, orange peel-like changes, varicose veins, nodules, etc.
(4) Axillary fossa and supraclavicular fossa: whether there is swelling and bulge.
Breast palpation
1.Position and sequence
Sitting and lying position combined, left arm up, hand behind the head, check the left breast with the right hand in the order (nipple-centered): external upper → external lower → internal lower → internal upper → axillary fossa → nipple. Check the opposite side in the same way.
2.Manipulation
With the palm of the hand flat, apply light pressure and glide to palpate.
3. Contents of palpation
(1) Normal breast: Uniform and consistent tenderness and fine-grained feeling, but with menstruation, lactation or age, nodule-like feeling.
The nodular sensation increases with menstruation, lactation or age, but is uniform and consistent.
(2) Mass: size, hardness, border, mobility, smoothness of the surface, and the presence of adhesions
(3) Local glandular thickening: location, extent, texture, and presence of tenderness.
(4) Nipple: squeeze the nipple for pain, overflow, color.
(5) Axillary and supraclavicular fossa: pay attention to the presence of enlarged lymph nodes.
Fourth, breast self-examination notes
1, breast self-examination found the above abnormal changes, should immediately go to the hospital, accept the arrangements of specialist physicians.
2, should adhere to the monthly examination (after menstruation), whether consistent is the key to obtain satisfactory results of breast self-examination.
3, the author often heard patients reflect that even after the doctor’s guidance still can not palpate, can not identify normal breast and lumps, we suggest: first of all, familiar with their own breast, focusing on the recent abnormal local changes (it does not matter if you can not say what has grown), such as local gland thickening hardening or suspicious swelling, especially after menstruation still no signs of remission, find the problem in time to seek medical advice.
