More than 1,000 mutant strains of neocoronaviruses have been identified worldwide. Neocoronaviruses are RNA viruses, and as the largest and most complex RNA viruses, coronaviruses can have genomes up to 32,000 nucleotides long. Currently there are six main types of mutant coronaviruses, namely Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Lambda, and Omicron. The latest mutant strain of Neocoronavirus is called Omicron, and there are currently several subtypes such as BA.2.12, BA.2.12.1, BA.4, and so on. Omicron transmission is further shortened from the Delta mutant strain’s time of about 4 days and is more potent than the Delta mutant strain. Currently, the available New Crown vaccine still provides some protection against the Omicron variant strain. During the New Crown epidemic, it is important to maintain good personal hygiene habits, wear masks for scientific purposes, gather less, eat sensibly, exercise moderately and get enough sleep. Avoid public transportation as much as possible and strengthen personal protection when going out.
