Cervical conization surgery is a kind of surgery to remove part of the cervix in obstetrics and gynecology. This surgery has the function of doing pathological examination, confirming cervical lesions and removing diseased tissues, but there are certain indications for doing cervical conization surgery. The indications are cervical carcinoma in situ, high grade intraepithelial lesions of the cervix, microscopic examination of cervical cancer with small infiltrates, precancerous lesions of the cervix, cervical adenocarcinoma, chronic cervicitis, cervical ectropion, and cervical hypertrophy and hyperplasia. When a woman has been diagnosed with cervical cancer in situ, high-grade intraepithelial lesions of the cervix, or microscopic examination reveals small infiltrates of cervical cancer, cervical conization surgery can be performed first to help clinicians determine the scope of surgery. If a woman is found to have malignant cells in multiple cervical cytology examinations, which indicates that there may be precancerous lesions in the cervix, she also needs to undergo cervical conization surgery as soon as possible to further confirm the diagnosis. After the relevant tests, women with high suspicion of cervical adenocarcinoma can also undergo cervical conization surgery, which is a curative procedure. In addition, if a woman has chronic cervicitis, cervical ectropion, or cervical hypertrophy and hyperplasia and the results of conservative treatment are not satisfactory, a small-scale cervical conization procedure can be considered. This surgical method is very effective in treating chronic cervicitis lesions.
