Symptoms of Susac’s Syndrome

Susac’s syndrome is a very rare disorder in which the patient presents with brain lesions and memory impairment, and the patient’s memory usually lasts only for about 24 hours. Known cases are mainly female, aged 20-40 years. The onset of the disease is characterized by severe memory impairment, often accompanied by severe headaches, similar to migraines. Patients often have photophobia, and their vision and hearing can be significantly affected. Sometimes 5 years after the onset of the disease, the patient’s symptoms improve from before, but the damage that occurred to vision and hearing cannot be recovered. The cause of this disease has not been studied because the number of cases is too small to allow for large-scale examinations and studies, and patients’ lives are generally significantly affected by memory loss.
