The family is the main place where patients recover. In our country, most families are able to adopt an accepting attitude towards their patients, which is much better than in Western countries. The prognosis of schizophrenic patients in our country is better than that of western countries, which is a very important factor. Most psychiatric patients due to emotional indifference, lack of energy, lack of initiative, poor concentration, etc. affect the patient’s social adaptability and work, so that the family income is reduced, the family standard of living declined, coupled with the possibility that there may still be some psychiatric symptoms, adding a certain burden on the family, adding a certain uneasiness to the neighbors, often resulting in complaints from the family and the family within the family conflict, the neighbors of the reproach. This is a stimulus to the patient and sometimes prompts an attack. It has also been pointed out that schizophrenic patients have a high relapse rate when they are emotionally upset with their families, which has an effect on their overall prognosis. It is practical for a number of patients who are discharged from psychiatric hospitals to be temporarily admitted to transitional wards when they are unable to adapt to family and social life, or when they are unable to return to their families due to a variety of problems. Transitional wards refer to daytime hospitalization, nighttime hospitalization and other short-term hospitalization forms suitable for patients. This form of hospitalization serves as a bridge between the hospital and the family. In transitional wards, on the one hand, emotional conflicts between patients and their families can be reduced, and on the other hand, medical care is available, with the opportunity to strengthen the ties between the doctor and the family and to do a good job of psychotherapy for both the family and the patient. Patients hospitalized in the daytime are able to make a more natural transition to social life through the rehabilitation phase. The verbal expression of family members’ attitudes toward the mentally ill is called emotional expression. Always using critical, blaming, or mocking words towards the mental patient is called high emotional expression. Excessive high emotional expression can lead to higher relapse and re-hospitalization rates. Therefore, it is important to adjust the emotional expression of the family, which is the main component of family therapy. It should be replaced by caring, encouraging, and understanding words to communicate with the patient. Family therapy requires specialized mental health workers, psychologists, and social workers to go deep into the patient’s family to provide medication guidance, mental health counseling, answer their concerns, resolve contradictions and conflicts between the patient and family members, mediate interpersonal relationships and emotional expression among family members, and create a good family environment conducive to the patient’s recovery. With the cooperation of family members, patients are given behavioral modification training to help them analyze the reasons for the formation of various bad habits, guide them to gradually adapt to normal life, consciously participate in the training, and under the supervision of family members, patients are asked to abide by work and rest time and develop good habits, starting from simple things, such as personal care, housework, shopping, etc., and are encouraged to take part in social activities and increase interpersonal exchanges, so that the goal of returning to the society can be achieved. Encourage participation in social activities and increase interpersonal communication in order to achieve the goal of returning to society.
