(Dental) pads are used in the treatment of TMJ disorders in many specialties, including prosthodontics, orthodontics, and arthroplasty, where the amount of time required to wear the pads varies for different disorders. For orthodontic or prosthodontic patients, the wearing of (dental) pads usually requires the patient to wear them for 24 hours. In the case of joints, where there is no desire to change the patient’s occlusion, but only to adjust the position of the joints with the pads, the patient is asked to wear them at night, 10-12 hours a day. (Different types of (dental) pads are used for different joint symptoms and the cost range is between$1500-2000. (Dental) pads for TMJ disorders are recommended to be worn for 3-6 months.
