Oral manifestations in diabetic patients

  Among the endocrine system diseases, diabetes is most closely related to the oral and maxillofacial surfaces, and periodontal infections are more prevalent and severe in diabetic patients and can occur at a young age. Patients with diabetes are 15 times more likely than healthy individuals to have a completely edentulous mouth and three times more likely than normal to have periodontal disease. The main oral manifestations of diabetic patients are: 1, gingivitis periodontitis, gums are deep red in color, swollen, easy to bleed, prone to periodontal abscess, teeth can be loosened in a short period of time; 2, tongue is deep red in color, swollen, with tooth marks, and can occur furrowing, the mouth often has a sweet taste or rotten apple taste; 3, oral mucosa is dry, congested and red, transparency decreases, lips are dry and cracked; 4, parotid gland is enlarged, bilateral diffuse No pain, no pain, ultrasound and other examinations only found that the gland is slightly larger, no other abnormal findings.  Diabetic patients should pay attention to oral treatment, tooth extraction and surgery, preoperative antibacterial agent should be used to prevent postoperative infection, because diabetic patients have low resistance to bacterial infection; preoperative comprehensive health examination should be done to check blood sugar, if blood sugar is too high, surgery should be performed after controlling the condition.
