CT manifestation of intestinal tuberculosis

CT manifestations of intestinal tuberculosis mainly include the following: 1. thickening of the intestinal canal: the lesion mainly occurs in the ileocecal region, the jejunum, transverse colon, left hemicolectum and rectum can also occur, but most of them mainly occur in the ileocecal region, the mucosa of the thickened intestinal wall can be uneven, and nodular changes can also occur; 2. stratified or roughly uniform strengthening of the intestinal wall: in the acute phase, due to submucosal edema, the layers of the intestinal wall can still be strengthened with high density, and the middle edematous area is not strengthened and is hypointense; 3. In the acute stage, the layers of the intestinal wall can still intensify with high density due to submucosal edema, while the middle edematous area does not intensify and is hypointense, so the intestinal wall is stratified, and in the chronic stage, the submucosal layer tends to intensify uniformly due to fibrous hyperplasia; 3. The peritoneal thickening and ascites: peritoneal thickening is a manifestation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis dissemination to the peritoneum and is accompanied by changes of ascites; 6. peri-intestinal abscess formation and intestinal obstruction: when the ulcer penetrates to the plasma membrane layer, a peri-intestinal abscess can be formed, which is manifested as a peri-intestinal ring abnormality, with liquefied necrotic changes in the center of the abnormal reinforcement foci and visible bubbles. Intestinal obstruction can be caused when the intestinal canal is narrowed, which manifests as pneumatization and dilatation of the intestinal canal proximal to the stenosis with gas-fluid planes.
