Anemia patients may consider blood transfusion if the degree of anemia is severe and other treatments are ineffective. The indications for blood transfusion are different for anemia patients with different types of diseases.
1. Aplastic anemia:
(1) Hb <70g/L with symptoms of severe undercompensation.
(2) Symptoms of anemia even in quiet time.
(3) Prophylactic or therapeutic platelet transfusion should be considered in thrombocytopenic patients with visceral and intracranial bleeding tendency or bleeding indications.
2. Thalassemia:
(1) Those with intermediate α or β thalassemia with significant worsening of anemia associated with infection and pregnancy should be considered for blood transfusion.
(2) Those with severe β-thalassemia should have blood transfusion as early as possible, and Hb should be maintained at 60~70g/L.
3. 6-phosphoglucose dehydrogenase deficiency:
(1) Severe symptoms of anemia with Hb <40g/L.
(2) Significant hemoglobinuria despite hospitalization.
(3) Hemolysis and critical condition.
In addition to the above diseases, autoimmune hemolytic anemia, leukemia, hemophilia and other diseases, within the scope of the indications for blood transfusion, blood transfusion treatment should be taken to avoid life-threatening. If the above symptoms occur, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time for early and regular treatment. Blood transfusion should be performed under the guidance of a doctor.
