How long to eat normally after pyloric obstruction surgery

After pyloric obstruction surgery, food is usually not allowed to be eaten until after gas has been passed, starting with a liquid diet for 2-3 days after gas is passed, followed by a semi-liquid diet, and being able to eat normally for about a week.
Surgery for pyloric obstruction usually involves resection of most of the distal part of the stomach, plus gastrojejunostomy or gastroduodenal anastomosis. After surgery, patients may have anastomotic edema, ulcers, etc., and the food can not pass smoothly; there may also be intestinal peristalsis slowing down the patient’s abdominal distension, or even slow or no exhaust, etc., so it is necessary to eat only after the exhaust.
Generally, 2 to 3 days after the operation of exhaust can first start from the liquid food, there is no discomfort and then gradually transition to semi-liquid food, if there is no abdominal distension, abdominal pain, no exhaust and so on, in a week or so of time can resume normal diet.
If there are symptoms of bloating, abdominal pain and no gas after pyloric obstruction surgery, you should not eat blindly for the time being, consult your doctor to find out the cause, and eat gradually only after gas is released.
