How to determine the degree of myopia

If a patient needs to determine how much myopia is present, an optometry test is required.
Nearsightedness is a common eye disease, a type of refractive error, which causes the patient to have blurred vision in the distance but clear vision in the near distance. Myopia patients usually need to undergo an optometry test to determine the degree of myopia, such as computerized optometry.
In children with myopia, in order to eliminate the interference of ciliary muscle spasm-induced accommodation on the results of optometry, children need to perform dilated optometry to get an accurate myopia. Because adult patients have weaker adjusting ability compared with children, adult myopia patients usually do not need to dilate the pupil before the examination.
It is recommended that myopia patients consult a doctor to evaluate their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions to choose the appropriate treatment.
