Most women do not bleed after taking mifepristone. Only a few women experience a small amount of vaginal bleeding 1-2 days after taking the drug. Mifepristone works by making it easier to separate the meconium from the myometrium and is usually used clinically in sequence with misoprostol to terminate a pregnancy. The reason is that when misoprostol is taken at a later stage, it facilitates the shedding of the gestational sac and the mucosa together. Most women do not experience vaginal bleeding during the course of the medication. A small amount of vaginal bleeding occurs in a small number of women on the second day of the medication, while a very small number of women experience bleeding after taking mifepristone, which is mainly related to the sensitivity of the individual to the medication. Patients are advised to take mifepristone for abortion under the guidance of an obstetrician and gynecologist, otherwise it may lead to residual embryonic tissue in the uterus.
