Lower extremity venous ulcer is a relatively common surgical disease, is the lower extremity venous reflux disease (such as primary lower extremity venous valve insufficiency) and lower extremity venous reflux disorders (such as lower extremity deep vein thrombosis, inferior vena cava obstruction, varicose veins, phlebitis, etc.) to a certain extent to form the lower extremity ulcer, mostly in the lower 1/3 of the lower leg front medial side, inner ankle, outer ankle or dorsal foot area. This is called “old rotten leg” in Chinese medicine, also known as “polyposis”. At the beginning of the disease, patients often feel soreness and fatigue in the lower limbs, and some have edema in the back of the foot or the ankle joint, and the symptoms are aggravated after standing and walking for a long time. If left untreated, the skin of the lower leg and ankle will become rough, atrophied, thin and shiny, with sparse sweat hair, darkening and pigmentation, eczema, frequent flaking and itching, and even ulcers. If not treated in time, the ulcer will spread from small to large, and the deeper the ulcer, the more it rots, and eventually the whole layer of skin will be rotten, and even bone infection or cancer will occur in serious cases. The ulcers are often delayed, or recur after healing, seriously affecting the normal life of patients, so once the phenomenon of venous ulcers of the lower extremities, patients should promptly go to the regular hospital vascular surgery to find out the cause of the disease and timely treatment. Many patients have two misunderstandings in treatment. 1, there is a misunderstanding in the understanding of the disease, think that the lower limb ulcer is only a local problem, only for the lower limb ulcer treatment; However, in the absence of improving the original disease, restore normal venous reflux, “old rotten leg” can not be completely cured from the root of the disease. 2, patients in the treatment is only the use of pure surgical treatment or single use of Chinese medicine internal treatment or external medicine, but such treatment is only one-sided. The correct and effective treatment mainly includes three aspects: 1. surgical treatment to deal with the diseased blood vessels, 2. treatment of the ulcer wound, and 3. cooperation between doctors and patients to actively prevent disease recurrence and promote functional recovery. The self-management of venous ulcer patients should focus on the following aspects: 1. pay attention to bed rest and reduce the amount of activity, the affected limb can be elevated during bed rest to promote venous reflux. 2, lower limb venous ulcers to wear varicose veins elastic stockings for a long time, elastic stockings need to be changed and washed every day, and can be taken off when resting. 3, avoid standing and sitting for a long time, often do the leg elevation, put down the movement, through physical exercise, exercise to improve the calf muscle pump function. Exercise methods are: heel lifting ground toe walk; heel not on the ground jump rope; straight leg raising exercise, etc. 4, to pay attention to the wound and skin care, keep the limb clean, hygiene, avoid trauma, etc., wound infection, must not be self-treatment, to promptly seek medical attention. 5, quit smoking, quit drinking, do not eat spicy and stimulating food, the diet is mainly light.
