How to Remove Melasma

Melasma removal methods include topical medication, systemic medication, laser or IPL treatment.
1. Topical medication: Topical depigmenting agents, such as 2%-5% hydroquinone cream, 4% tretinoin, 15%-20% azelaic acid cream, etc., can inhibit the activity of tyrosinase and reduce the production of pigment; 0.025%-0.1% retinoic acid can also be used topically to affect the metabolism of melanin, which can lighten pigmentation; topical superoxide dismutase can be used to inhibit and remove the oxygen radicals and reduce the production of melanin.
2. Systemic medication: oral vitamin C, vitamin E, tranexamic acid and other medications; in severe cases, large doses of vitamin C can be used intravenously.
3. Laser or IPL treatment: Physical treatments such as Q-switched laser or IPL can help remove pigmentation.
It is suggested that patients who need to get rid of chloasma need to go to the dermatology department of regular hospitals, follow the doctor’s instructions for reasonable treatment, and use medication under the doctor’s guidance, not blindly self-medication.
