Atopic dermatitis is characterized by a distinctive “atopic” profile in the patient or in the family: 1) a familial predisposition to asthma, allergic rhinitis, and eczema; 2) allergy to xenobiotics; 3) high serum IgE; and 4) increased blood eosinophilia. Typical atopic dermatitis has specific clinical manifestations of eczema and the four characteristics mentioned above. It is also known as atopic dermatitis, atopic eczema, Besnier somatic itchy rash or genetic allergic eczema. There are three clinical phases: acute or subacute eczema in infancy; and subacute or chronic eczema in childhood and young adulthood. How to care for the skin of patients with atopic dermatitis? 1. Avoid triggering and aggravating factors: Try to avoid all possible stimuli. Should try to wear cotton clothing, to loose appropriate, change clothes and sheets and other household items, avoid scratching and friction; avoid excessive cleaning of the skin, especially scalding and excessive use of soap; pay attention to maintain a suitable environmental temperature, reduce the stimulation of sweat; pay attention to maintain a clean living environment, reduce such as house dust, mites, animal hair, pollen, fungi and other allergens; pay attention to observe the reaction to the food eaten, avoid Avoid consuming allergenic food. 2. Restore and maintain the skin barrier function: correcting dry skin, protecting the skin barrier function and stopping itching are the key measures to treat AD. In the acute phase, bathing with warm water 1-2 times a day will increase the humidity while also helping to reduce exudation and remove scabs and residual drugs; in the chronic phase, bathing can be done once a day. Whether in the acute phase or in remission, the application of emollients and/or moisturizers is extremely necessary and should be applied topically (mostly advocated for systemic use) at least one or two times daily, especially immediately after bathing, in order to maintain the hydrated state of the skin and protect the barrier function and reduce itching symptoms.
