Can you have a second ectopic pregnancy after having one?

Having had one ectopic pregnancy, there is still the possibility of a second ectopic pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancy is the implantation of the embryo outside the uterine cavity. The most frequent site is the fallopian tube, which accounts for about 95% of ectopic pregnancies. The main causes of ectopic pregnancy are history of tubal pregnancy or surgery, tubal inflammation, tubal dysplasia or functional abnormalities. Patients with a history of ectopic pregnancy, whether treated conservatively or surgically, have a probability of having another ectopic pregnancy of about 10%. This is because the patency of the fallopian tube may be affected regardless of conservative or surgical treatment, so having had one ectopic pregnancy will still make a second one possible. Women with a history of ectopic pregnancy are advised to go to the hospital for a tubal patency test and related ancillary tests when preparing for pregnancy if they want to get pregnant again.
