What is chronic mastitis?

Chronic mastitis is characterized by a slow onset, long duration of illness, not easy to heal, and difficult to eliminate for a long period of time. Lumps can be palpable in the breast, with lumps as the main manifestation. The lump is hard, unclear border, pressure pain, can be adhered to the skin, the lump is not broken, not easy to present pus, also not easy to dissipate. There is no typical localized redness, swelling, heat and pain in the breast, and systemic symptoms such as fever, chills and fatigue are not obvious. There are two reasons for the development of chronic mastitis, the first is the treatment of acute mastitis misuse, such as the improper use of antibiotics. The second is the onset of chronic inflammatory process, mostly due to poor milk discharge, milk stagnation and the formation of hard knots. Treatment is mainly based on surgical treatment, radiological incision and drainage, but also with a needle puncture pus pumping, external application of gold powder, etc..
