Can an 8 year old with a 4.8 eye recover?

Whether or not an 8-year-old child’s vision of 4.8 can be restored is related to the cause of the vision loss and the degree of development of the child’s vision. Generally, vision loss caused by pseudomyopia can be restored, but vision loss caused by damage to the optic nerve is generally more difficult to restore.
The visual acuity of an 8-year-old child is 4.8 which is lower than that of his/her peers and is considered abnormal. If the vision loss is caused by pseudomyopia, the child can usually regain orthopia and improve his/her vision by developing good eye habits and avoiding eye fatigue. However, if the vision loss is caused by optic nerve damage or fundus abnormality, it is usually more difficult to recover.
In addition, true myopia can also lead to vision loss, and children can wear glasses to correct myopia and improve their vision.
Children with vision loss are advised to seek medical attention to assess their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
