Cholecystitis and pancreatitis are two diseases of different nature, but they are somewhat related. Cholecystitis occurs as pain in the right upper abdomen with radiating pain in the back and right shoulder blade. Pancreatitis occurs mostly as persistent pain in the upper and middle abdomen with nausea and vomiting. Cholecystitis can be diagnosed with ultrasound and blood tests, while pancreatitis often requires blood amylase and CT of the upper part of the body. There is also a difference in treatment between the two, cholecystitis requires anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic treatment, while pancreatitis requires anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic treatment plus acid and enzyme inhibition. Therefore, the diagnosis and treatment of these two diseases are different, but the pathogenesis has some correlation, because the biliary system and the pancreatic duct have a common opening of the sphincter of Oddi, so these two diseases have some correlation, especially the inflammation of the gallbladder tends to induce an attack of acute pancreatitis.
