What causes a rapid heartbeat?

There are two causes of rapid heartbeat, one is physiological and the other is pathological. The physiological ones are mainly caused by emotional stress, excitement, neurological insufficiency, neurological weakness, fever, and exercise. The pathological ones, such as organic heart disease, arrhythmia, supraventricular tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, etc., can cause the heart to beat too fast. A normal heartbeat should be between 60-100 beats per minute. If it exceeds 100 beats per minute, it is considered to be tachycardia and often requires intervention. Once a rapid heartbeat occurs, it is important to visit a hospital to clarify whether the cause is pathological or physiological and give appropriate treatment.
