What is schizophrenia? Schizophrenia is a “dangerous” illness because you cannot imagine what the person will do next. It is important to treat schizophrenia early if you have schizophrenia or have symptoms of schizophrenia in your body. What are the general characteristics of schizophrenic patients? Schizophrenia is a psychiatric disorder that is a persistent, usually chronic, major mental illness, the most serious type of psychosis. It is the most common type of psychosis characterized by basic personality, splitting of thinking, emotions, and behavior, and incompatibility between mental activities and the environment, and mostly develops in young adults, usually starting in men at the age of 17-30 and in women at the age of 20-40, which in turn It affects behavior and emotions. Schizophrenia severely impairs the workforce and has a profound negative impact on personal development, family and society. Why do “I” have schizophrenia? Psychological stimuli: These are the main triggers of psychosis, and can be triggered by trauma and major life events. These mental stimuli are one of the psychological factors, and high psychological burden and psychological stress can be triggers for the disorder. Personality and environment: Some patients with mental illness are characterized by special personalities, such as withdrawn, suspicious, sensitive, lazy, indulging in fantasy, etc. This personality deviation from normal is called schizoid personality disorder. It has been proposed that schizoid personality disorder is a major influencing factor in the later development of psychosis, so there is actually some connection between psychiatric disorders and personality. Age: During adolescence, when the endocrine system is maturing, people are prone to mood swings, have an unstable nervous system, and are sensitive to external stressors. Therefore, during this period, if they encounter psychological stimuli, they are often susceptible to neurosis or schizophrenia, manic depression. In the middle age, people are in the most active period of brain power and physical strength, and the changes in thinking and emotion are more complicated, so they are prone to delusional states or depressive states under psychological stimulation. Physiological factors: Studies have found that the immediate family members of people with mental illness are more likely to have the disease than the general population, especially twin siblings, and studies have found that people with mental illness tend to have brain dysfunction and abnormal secretion of brain neurotransmitters. How should family members treat patients with schizophrenia? Families of schizophrenia patients should not allow the patients to stay at home all day and not communicate with people, otherwise it will easily lead to a decline in the patients’ social functions and their inability to work, study and live normally, and may even speed up the patients’ decline, eventually making them become invalids. It is very important for the family members of schizophrenia patients to know some health knowledge about schizophrenia so that the patients can be assured of medication supervision and psychological support. Moreover, patients with schizophrenia should be reviewed regularly at outpatient clinics and prevent relapse through medication by knowing the right amount of maintenance medication by the doctor, and information shows that medication can effectively reduce the relapse of schizophrenia. Tip: In the case of severe schizophrenia where long-term medication or inpatient treatment has no effect or little effect, stereotactic minimally invasive surgery can be chosen as the treatment method. Based on thousands of treatment cases, this method is proven to have good results in severe mental illness. Patients must be at least 18 years old and have a medical history of more than three years to be treated with surgery.
