Comprehensive treatment based on visceral acupuncture points – pediatric cerebral palsy

When Xiaoxiao was 4 months old, Ms. Bao found that she had no strength to lift her head, often tilted her head back, woke up easily during sleep, clenched her two small hands into fists, and had uncoordinated movement of her two legs. For two or three years, the parents took Xiaoxiao to Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and other major hospitals for treatment, but without any effect. After nearly nine months of treatment, Xiaoxiao is finally as healthy as her peers. Ms. Bao said gratefully, “Thank you very much! Your positive and tenacious qualities deserve our admiration. One lives not only for oneself, but also for the care and responsibility of others! The child is now fully recovered, and we will never forget you! You are the one who gave the child a 2nd life.” Cao Yun, Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Nantong Chinese Medicine Hospital
The “Medical Compendium – Pediatric Section – Five Hard and Five Soft” contains “Five hard, i.e., the genus of spasm, and five soft, i.e., the genus of impotence”. Both “five hardnesses” and “five softnesses” are related to the clinical manifestations of cerebral palsy. The causes of cerebral palsy are mainly internal and external. One is due to congenital deficiency of endowment and loss of liver and kidney, and the other is due to the loss of nourishment or internal obstruction of blood stasis in the later life, and the essence of the five viscera cannot go up to the house of the genitals. The disease is located in the brain and should be in the limbs, and the symptoms are varied, which is a disease that seriously affects the physical and mental health development of children.             Modern medicine recognizes that a variety of prenatal, perinatal and postnatal diseases can cause this disease. The prenatal factors include embryonic brain development malformations, severe nutritional deficiencies in early maternal pregnancy, trauma, infection, poisoning and other physical and chemical injuries; the perinatal factors include asphyxia, nucleus pulposus, premature birth, birth injuries, low birth weight, etc.; the postnatal factors include various serious infections, asphyxia and trauma during the neonatal period. Foreign countries mainly use exercise therapy treatment, and domestic combined with traditional Chinese medicine therapy more.             According to the theory of TCM, the author adopts the principle of “regulating yin and yang and benefiting the brain and marrow”, and adopts viscera pointing with acupuncture to treat pediatric cerebral palsy with remarkable effect. The head is the meeting of all the yang, and by regulating the Qi of the Governor’s meridian, it can indirectly regulate the Qi of many meridians in the human body, and the smooth flow of the meridian of the Governor’s meridian can make the marrow born in the kidney continuously injected into the brain, which is the marrow orifice and the marrow sea. “The brain is the marrow and the marrow sea.             The visceral point therapy takes the child’s Huatuo Pinch, the Governor’s Vessel points, as well as the Spleen and Stomach points to “pass the Governor” and strengthen the tonification of the later heaven; the Baihui is at the top of the inverted, the human complex brain, awakening the brain, nourishing the mind and opening the orifice; together with the Four Spiritual Tsung and the Hanging Bell, it can tonify the marrow and educate the mind and strengthen the tendons and bones; the Foot Sanli can tonify the later heaven, transform the Qi and blood, and nourish the tendons and bones and brain marrow; the Hegu regulates the Qi and blood, and nourishes the brain. Hegu regulates qi and blood, resolves blood stasis and clears the channels. The combination of head acupuncture stimulation can accelerate the blood flow in some arteries of the brain and increase the blood and oxygen supply to the brain, thus promoting the development of the central nervous system of the brain, increasing intelligence and improving the motor function of the limbs. The visceral point method is guided by the theory of visceral organs and meridian system, and works on specific parts of the body or acupuncture points to unblock qi and blood. The application of different techniques can regulate tendons and disperse stasis, relieve muscle spasm, relax tendons and blood, reduce muscle tone in the limbs, thereby correcting abnormal patterns and restoring normal function; promote the recovery of the central nerve function of the spinal cord in the brainstem of the affected child, promote local blood circulation; regulate the opening and closing of skin pores, facilitate the secretion of sweat glands, expand skin blood vessels, increase local blood circulation, promote blood and lymphatic circulation around the joints, prompt Ligament elasticity is enhanced and joint contracture is eliminated.             Through years of clinical observation, it has been shown that the comprehensive treatment of pediatric cerebral palsy with acupuncture and moxibustion has achieved very good results, and the younger the age, the better the effect.
