Pediatric cerebral palsy, as the name suggests, is the paralysis of the brain. Pediatric cerebral palsy causes certain harm to the patients’ life in the future, and epilepsy, limb convulsions, and visual, auditory, and speech dysfunction of the children are all typical manifestations of pediatric cerebral palsy. Modern medicine does not have much success in treating pediatric cerebral palsy, but as long as we find out the symptoms of pediatric cerebral palsy in time, we can control the condition as early as possible. Early Symptoms of Pediatric Cerebral Palsy 1. Fixed Posture: The child is very quiet after birth and cries weakly or continuously. This condition is often caused by abnormal muscle tone due to brain injury, such as corrugator, frog position, inverted U-shape posture, and so on. It can be seen in the first month after birth. 2.Difficulty in breastfeeding: the child will not suck after birth, weak sucking or refusing breastfeeding, tired and weak after sucking, often choking and spitting, the mouth can not be closed well, and poor weight gain. 3.Abnormal head circumference: head circumference is an objective indicator of the morphologic development of the brain, and brain-injured children often have abnormal head circumference. 4, body hardening: this is a symptom of high muscle tone, which can be seen at one month. If it lasts for more than 4 months, cerebral palsy can be diagnosed. 5. Softness and decreased spontaneous movements: this is a symptom of hypotonia and can be seen at one month. If it lasts for more than 4 months, severe brain injury, mental retardation or muscular system disorders can be diagnosed. 6. Failure to smile: If the child cannot smile at 2 months and cannot laugh out loud at 4 months, mental retardation can be diagnosed. 7.Ultresponsive and unresponsive to name calling: This is an early manifestation of mental retardation. It is generally believed that unresponsive at 4 months and unresponsive to name calling at 6 months can be diagnosed as mental retardation. Causes of pediatric cerebral palsy 1. Factors during pregnancy During pregnancy, smoking, infections, and improper use of medication can cause fetal ischemia and hypoxia, which can lead to fetal brain damage. In addition, pregnant women suffering from severe hypertension during pregnancy is also an important cause of cerebral palsy. Incompatibility of rh blood type between pregnant women and fetus as well as genetic factors are high-risk factors for the occurrence of cerebral palsy in children. 2.Factors during labor and delivery Abnormalities during labor and delivery can also cause fetal brain damage, leading to cerebral palsy. The following are common: (1) Neonatal asphyxia. If there is no whistling at the time of birth, the abuse of hormone to induce labor and so on can be the baby’s lack of oxygen and lead to brain damage. (2) Difficulty in labor: it can lead to head injury, intracranial hematoma and so on. (3) low birth weight or preterm infants: preterm infants or low birth weight infants with small weight (weight less than 2500 grams), imperfect development, are more prone to hypoxia and intracranial injury. Factors after birth: Cerebral palsy is not only caused by abnormalities during pregnancy and delivery, but also caused by certain diseases or trauma after birth. Common cases are as follows: (1) Infection: High fever or severe diarrhea caused by infection can lead to severe dehydration, which can cause some damage to the pediatric brain. (2) Head trauma or intracranial hemorrhage. (3) Brain infections, such as meningitis and encephalitis. (4) Infantile nuclear jaundice. It can lead to brain damage and is due to abnormal bilirubin metabolism. Therefore, it is evident that mothers must take good care of their babies and must be more careful in general to avoid the occurrence of this condition. The child’s disease, the mother’s pain!
