What to do if you have a torn ligament

A torn ligament refers to the labial or lingual ligament, and most commonly trauma causes a torn labial ligament, and the decision to close it or not should be based on the length of the tear and the bleeding situation. (1) First of all, when the ligament is torn, there will definitely be bleeding, so proper hemostasis should be performed first, most often by compression such as holding a cotton block or gauze and applying some pressure, and then going to the hospital. (2) If the ligament tear is not torn very deeply, it can generally be done without sutures, but it should also be cleaned and disinfected to clean up the dirt around the wound and prevent wound infection, which can generally heal on its own. If necessary, a tetanus shot should also be given. (3) If the ligament is torn very deeply or bleeds more than once, it should be stitched up after debridement and disinfection. It is also advisable to give a tetanus shot to prevent secondary infection from occurring as well. (4) After the treatment of the wound must pay attention to the care of the oral wound, often use special mouthwash or warm salt water to rinse the mouth, keep the diet light, do not eat hard, spicy, too acidic or too sweet and other irritating food in the near future, in order to prevent wound infection or delay the healing.
