How long does it take for a broken finger tendon to heal

How long it takes for a broken finger tendon to heal depends on the severity of the break and how it is treated. The finger tendon is commonly referred to as the tendon of the hand in medicine. If the tendon is partially ruptured, or if the rupture is mild, conservative treatment is required and the tendon will gradually heal in about 4-5 weeks after treatment. If a complete rupture of the finger tendon occurs, an incisional tendon anastomosis must be performed, and clinical healing can be achieved in about 6-8 weeks after surgery, when the fixation is removed before local rehabilitation and functional exercise can begin, which usually takes at least 3 months after surgery to fully recover. After a finger tendon rupture, whether treated surgically or conservatively, a corresponding external fixation is required early on to promote tendon healing. After fixation, patients should not remove the external fixation by themselves, but must remove it under medical supervision.
