The function of the hand is extremely complex, and each small movement involves the delicate geometry and mechanical properties of the bones and joints; the balance between the complex dynamic synergy and antagonism of the muscles and tendons; the sensory feedback and force feedback of the skin and muscles; and the integration of sensation and the coordinated command of movement by the central nervous system. Based on years of research on hand function, on the study of Vegaine’s hand function reconstruction theory, and on the practice of a large number of hand function reconstruction programs, Prof. Chang Li has developed the guiding idea of hand power adjustment for maximum functional recovery at minimal functional cost, and has perfected the theoretical system of long-term hand function repair.
