What kind of disease is hyperthyroidism?

Hyperthyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid gland synthesizes and releases too much thyroid hormone, resulting in hyper-metabolism and sympathetic excitation, causing palpitations, sweating, increased eating and bowel movements, and weight loss, and in most cases, proptosis, eyelid edema, and loss of vision. Thyroid hormones promote metabolism and redox reactions in the body, and hyper-metabolism requires the body to eat more, and increased gastrointestinal activity results in more frequent bowel movements. Although eating is increased, the oxidation reaction is enhanced and the body’s energy consumption is increased, so patients show weight loss, increased heat production, fear of heat and sweating, and hypothermia in some patients. Patients with hyperthyroidism who do not receive proper treatment for a long time can cause wasting and hyperthyroid heart disease. And hyperthyroid heart disease can cause heart enlargement, arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation and heart failure, and patients can lose their labor force or even die.
