Rib cartilage, or costal cartilage, is located between the ribs and the sternum, and serves to enable the ribs to form a sterno-rib joint with the help of the cartilage and the sternum. Rib cartilage is an important cartilage structure used to connect the sternum and ribs in the human body, most of the rib cartilage is distributed in the front of the human body on both sides of the midline of the chest, the 1st to 10th pairs of rib cartilage are located on both sides of the sternum, the 7th to 10th pairs of rib cartilage to form the human body’s ribcage arch, the 11th pairs of rib cartilage is located in the side of the chest at the very bottom edge of the 12th pairs of rib cartilage is located in the rear back of the thoracic girdle junction. If a line is used to separate the front of the chest from the center, the slightly elevated portion of the center line is the starting point of the rib cartilages on both sides.
