Hepatocellular carcinoma patients can eat protein powder, but if patients have liver function damage with liver cirrhosis at the same time, they should try to avoid excessive protein intake.
Due to invasion and consumption of tumor, liver’s ability to synthesize protein decreases and there will be obvious malnutrition or hypoproteinemia, therefore, in principle, high protein, high calorie, high vitamin, rich in fiber and easy to digest diet should be used to improve nutritional status, correct malnutrition and improve resistance of body.
If patients with combined cirrhosis have liver function damage and eat high protein food in excess, protein is decomposed into ammonia and released into blood in large quantities, and blood ammonia increases, which in turn induces hepatic encephalopathy. Therefore, patients with hepatocellular carcinoma combined with cirrhosis should plan protein diet reasonably and avoid over-consumption of protein.
