Paternity testing is a test to determine parentage based on the laws of DNA inheritance. At present, there are two types of paternity testing, one invasive and one non-invasive. Invasive paternity testing is the method of amniocentesis to obtain the genetic information of the fetus in the amniotic fluid DNA, and then based on the DNA information to determine the genetic parentage. Non-invasive paternity testing involves taking peripheral blood from a pregnant woman, obtaining fetal DNA information from the peripheral blood, and then amplifying it to determine paternity through DNA matching. At present, non-invasive paternity testing is more commonly used and there are more organizations in the community that perform non-invasive paternity testing. These are the two common methods of paternity testing.
