Poor coagulation requires replenishment of the lacking coagulation factors to bring their plasma factor concentrations to hemostatic levels, usually with fresh plasma. In severe bleeding when surgery is necessary or in heart failure, antihemoglobin, concentrates, cold precipitates and concentrates of prothrombin complexes are used, which have anti-diuretic and mobilize stored factors in the body. Anti-fibrinolytic agents protect formed blood clots from dissolving and are also used to stop bleeding in wounds in the mouth and during tooth extraction; anti-fibrinolytic agents are often used in combination with supplements. The bleeding stops and the local hematoma disappears before proper exercise, and local compression with ice packs or bandages as well as immobilization can be used.
