What happens when one side of a child’s nose suddenly becomes hard and swollen?

Sudden hardening and swelling on one side of a child’s nose may be due to acute nasal vestibulitis, acute folliculitis, or rhinoconjunctivitis. According to the different causes, the treatment should be targeted.
1. Acute nasal vestibulitis: it is mainly caused by nasal secretions, especially purulent secretions that stimulate the skin of the nasal vestibule. The main manifestations are redness, dryness, itching in the nasal vestibule, pain when touching, and increased local secretions.
2. Acute folliculitis: unclean skin, high temperature, scratching, friction is often the trigger. It starts as a hard nodule with localized redness, swelling, pain and pressure.
3. Nasal chondritis: it is caused by trauma or bacterial infection. Symptoms are localized pain, congestion and edema.
If the symptoms of nose discomfort continue to aggravate, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time.
