Cervical cerclage, or cervical conization in routine obstetrics and gynecology, is a minor outpatient procedure that can generally be handled individually by physicians who are attending or above. This type of surgery is mainly indicated for the treatment of cervical erosion and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. Usually, cervical conization is performed for patients with severe cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and cervical erosion who require surgery. Cervical conization surgery includes conization with a lap knife and a cold knife. Since the lap knife is able to coagulate while cutting, bleeding is reduced and the wound is restored to a minimum. Therefore, cervical loupes are generally considered for conization and the patient can leave the hospital immediately after the conization procedure without hospitalization. The patient can return to normal after the operation in about one month.
