There is no recurrence after appendectomy. When the appendix is completely removed, the appendix as an organ no longer exists, so it is unlikely that there will be a recurrence. If there is pain or lesions in the abdomen at this time, it may be caused by other places, such as the end of the small intestine or cecum, or pain caused by intestinal adhesions, and further examination is needed to make a clear diagnosis, and to clarify whether there is a colon tumor or not. However, recurrence of appendix may occur in the following cases: the first case is that the appendix was not completely removed during the first appendectomy, resulting in appendicular stump inflammation, and at this time it is possible to have pain in the right lower abdomen, or even metastatic right lower abdominal pain. The second situation is that after appendectomy, there are some intestinal adhesions in the abdomen, and mild intestinal adhesions may often present with right lower abdominal pain, which the patient mistakenly thinks is recurrence of appendicitis.
