Post-discharge precautions for newborns

1. Observe the newborn’s skin yellowing, and if the skin yellowing worsens or recedes but reappears, promptly visit the pediatric outpatient clinic. 2.After discharge from the hospital, make an appointment at the Department of Child Mental Health and have regular neurobehavioral and growth checkups according to the agreed time to monitor for the emergence and early intervention of sequelae such as intellectual abnormalities, cerebral palsy, hearing impairment and other perceptual neurological or growth abnormalities. 3.Hearing check: If no hearing screening or hearing screening is failed, it is recommended to follow up with hearing screening at 42 days, 3 months and 6 months after birth at our ENT department or ENT department of hospitals above the county level. 4.Regular vaccination: pay attention to the notification of newborn screening results. 5.Pay attention to umbilical care. Disinfect the area around the umbilicus with 75% alcohol 1-2 times a day. There may be a little bleeding or secretion when the umbilical cord falls off. If the umbilicus is red, swollen or has purulent secretions, etc., promptly seek medical attention.
