How long is the rabies vaccination valid for?

When a person has been vaccinated against rabies, its expiration date refers to how long the rabies vaccine is able to maintain the neutralizing antibodies produced by the body. Generally, with a full course of five rabies vaccinations, the rabies neutralizing antibodies will last for several years, usually more than three years. Therefore, if you are bitten or scratched again within three years after receiving the full five-dose rabies vaccine, you do not need to receive the full rabies vaccine again. However, because rabies neutralizing antibodies tend to decline over time, three additional rabies vaccinations are required within 1-3 years after the full five doses, and only two doses are required within six months to a year. If you have been vaccinated for more than three years, the corresponding antibodies are likely to have declined significantly, so it is recommended that you receive the full rabies vaccination. Therefore, after the rabies vaccination, the corresponding antibodies can last for more than three years.
