Hegu acupoint can be moxibued, but pregnant women are not suitable for acupuncture at Hegu acupoint.
Hegu point belongs to the Hand Yangming Large Intestine Meridian. It is located on the back of the hand, between the 1st and 2nd metacarpal bones, when the second metacarpal bone radial midpoint. It can sedate and relieve pain, promote blood circulation through the meridians, and clear away heat and relieve symptoms. It can be used for fever, headache, redness and swelling of the eyes, epistaxis (nosebleed), hematemesis, sore throat, toothache, deafness, facial swelling, slanting of the mouth and eyes , stagnation of the mouth in stroke, absence of sweating in febrile illnesses, excessive sweating, thirst, jaundice, dysmenorrhea, menstrual closure, and stagnant labor.
Because Hegu point can promote menstruation and blood circulation, it can be used for stagnant labor, so it is not suitable for pregnant women to intervene at Hegu point.
Although the Hegu point is available for moxibustion, it needs to be operated by professionals, not by yourself, so as not to cause adverse consequences.
