Manifestations of ankle ligament rupture

Ankle ligament rupture can have the following clinical manifestations: First, pain. Due to the rupture of the ligament, there is obvious pain and pressure pain at the rupture site, especially when the ankle joint moves medially and laterally, the pain is very significant. Secondly, swelling. When the ligament is ruptured, there can be bleeding at the rupture site, which can lead to subcutaneous stasis and swelling, and there can also be soft tissue injury around the ligament when the ligament is ruptured, which can also lead to swelling. Thirdly, localized bruising and petechiae and pressure pain, because the ligament rupture has bleeding, so bruising and petechiae can be seen under the skin, and there is obvious pressure pain at the rupture. Fourth, joint movement is restricted. Due to pain and swelling, joint movement is obviously restricted, especially when the ankle joint is turned in and out. The rupture of the ankle ligament should be examined by MRI, and depending on the MRI, surgical treatment or conservative treatment should be considered.
