Must Read for Summer Rainy Season Asthma Patients

Don’t overlook fungal allergies Among the many microorganisms, fungi are the ones that most often cause allergies in humans. There are two types of fungi, namely yeasts and molds. The main cause of human allergy is mold, mold from a variety of sources, some from moldy fruits and vegetables, some from a variety of organic materials placed in a damp and dark place (such as straw, straw and grass, etc.), and some from the fermentation of processed foods or drugs. Fungal reproduction requires high temperature and humidity, which mainly affect the growth, spore production and dispersion of fungi. Therefore, fungi grow best in a humid and hot environment, when the air has the most fungal spores; when it rains, the number of spores in the air decreases, but after the rain, the amount of spores in the air will increase significantly. Airborne fungi, referred to as airborne fungi, are common allergens that induce perennial allergic reactions. Allergic reactions caused by fungi are mainly manifested as asthma, and some patients inhaling large amounts of fungal spores can cause severe or even fatal asthma, which is due to the small diameter of fungal spores, only 3~5 microns in size, much smaller than pollen particles, and thus easier to enter the lungs. In addition to asthma, fungi can also cause allergic rhinitis, due to the inhalation of too many fungi, and a few stay on the nasal mucosa. Fungal ingestion is also one of the important ways to cause allergy. Many people consume mushrooms, wine, vinegar, soy sauce, sauce, dried fruit, and even fermented buns, bread, pastries and candies, etc., which cause gastrointestinal or respiratory allergic reactions. As fungi grow everywhere, the contact with human skin is very frequent and can cause contact allergic reactions, for example, some carpenters, after each contact with moldy wood or sawdust that has been stacked for a long time, farmers’ hands blister, itch, ooze, and multiple chaps on the palms of their hands after contact with straw at wheat harvest. Humans do not have many opportunities to receive direct fungal injection, but it is extremely common for humans to receive fungal product injection, especially the injection of various antibiotics is very frequent, mainly drug allergy as the main clinical manifestation. Fungal allergic reaction can be regarded as an environmental disease, if we can control the exposure to allergenic fungi in the environment, we can effectively prevent the occurrence of fungal allergic reaction or control the disease. Try to keep the room or workplace indoor dry, clean, sunny and good ventilation; fungal allergy should avoid to stay in the cellar, granary, threshing floor and vegetables, fruits, wood, firewood and other places where a lot of piles or mold, do not work or sleep in the room that has not been opened or not cleaned for a long time, if necessary, the bedroom located in the ground floor should be moved to the upper floors; for serious fungal allergy, if there are conditions For severe fungal allergy, treatment can be done easily if available; for those who are allergic due to eating fungi, avoid eating fermented foods and eating fungi as much as possible. The medication for fungal allergy should be selected under the guidance of physician and according to the condition.
