Proximal humerus fracture refers to the fracture that occurs in the area of the greater tuberosity, lesser tuberosity and surgical neck of the humerus, and is one of the common types of fracture in the locomotor system.
The surgical neck of the humerus is the weakest part of the proximal humerus and is most susceptible to fracture. There are abundant blood vessels and nerves traveling in this area, so when a fracture occurs, it is easy to injure important structures and the condition is relatively complicated.
Proximal humerus fracture can occur at any age, but it is more common in middle-aged and elderly people, mostly due to trauma, which is mainly manifested as localized pain, swelling, impaired mobility of the fracture, pain aggravated by moving the affected side, and in severe cases, bleeding or infection or even leading to shock or fever.
If proximal humerus fracture occurs, you should go to the hospital as soon as possible, under the guidance of the doctor for formal examination and treatment.
