Can mild tricuspid valve insufficiency heal on its own?

Mild tricuspid insufficiency, which results from aging or the presence of underlying cardiac disease, may not heal on its own in most cases, except in very unusual circumstances. Mild tricuspid valve insufficiency is most likely to be found in the elderly population in particular. In the absence of underlying cardiac or pulmonary disease, mild tricuspid valve insufficiency does not require special treatment. In people with pulmonary heart disease, dilated cardiomyopathy, or pulmonary hypertension, treatment of the primary heart and lung disease is also the main focus. For mild tricuspid valve incompetence does not require special treatment, and patients should not be particularly nervous, but should be regularly observed for changes in the tricuspid valve on cardiac ultrasound.
