Mild thoracic scoliosis may firstly cause distress to the patient in terms of appearance. Secondly, patients with mild lumbar scoliosis may be prone to pain in the lumbar back muscles, soreness and aching in the back or lumbar region, easy fatigue and pain. Mild thoracic scoliosis may not require surgical treatment, and early bracing or functional exercise may restore the physiological curvature of the lumbar spine while preventing further aggravation of the condition. In the case of severe thoracic scoliosis, the deformity of the thorax and the reduction of the effective volume of the thoracic cavity may cause impairment of cardiopulmonary function in the long run. If such severe thoracic scoliosis occurs, it needs to be corrected surgically to avoid long-term irreversible damage to cardiopulmonary function. The shape can also be reconstructed to obtain a healthier spine and physique.
