Cockscomb flower, sweet, astringent flavor, cool nature; attributed to the liver, large intestine. It has the effect of astringency and stopping bleeding (using drugs with astringent effect to treat bleeding diseases), stopping leucorrhea, and stopping dysentery. It is mainly used for treating bleeding under collapse (excessive menstrual flow or dribbling), menstrual bleeding, blood in stool, hemorrhoidal blood, damp-heat or cold-dampness leucorrhoea, and red-white leucorrhoea (abnormal leucorrhoea with blood or blood clots).
