If a patient has pain in the right side of the back scapula, it must be examined to determine whether the pain is caused by trauma, resulting in a fracture or contusion or laceration at the scapula. After excluding trauma, it should be considered whether the pain in the right side of the back scapula is also caused by a large pneumothorax on the right side. In addition, heart disease, such as coronary artery stenosis, occlusion, spasm and ischemia of the right coronary artery can also cause pain in the back of the scapula on the right side. Infectious diseases of the lungs, such as right-sided pleurisy, massive lung infection, and pleural effusion, may also cause pain on the right side of the scapula. If there is intercostal neuralgia or herpes zoster on the right side, there will also be pain in the above mentioned area.
