What is Bactroban?

Bactroban, also called mupirocin ointment, is a topical anti-infective drug. The main component of the drug is mupirocin, which has strong antibacterial activity against Gram-positive cocci related to skin infections, and also has some efficacy against drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and some antibacterial effect against certain negative bacteria. Therefore, this drug is mainly used in clinical practice for local anti-infective treatment and can be applied to dermatitis caused by gram-positive bacteria. Because soft tissue skin infections are more often caused by positive bacteria, for example, it can be used to treat primary skin infections such as impetigo, boils, folliculitis, and secondary skin infections such as eczema co-infection, ulcer co-infection, and trauma co-infection. In short, Bactrim or mupirocin ointment is a topical topical antibiotic that is mainly used for skin infections caused by bacteria.
