Is it normal to have a bowel movement once every few days?

It is normal to have a bowel movement once or twice a day or once every two or three days. Under normal circumstances, it is best to have a stool once a day, but some people tend to have a stool twice a day or once every two days. As long as it is not accompanied by abdominal pain, blood in the stool, discomfort in the anal area, change in stool habits and nature, it is normal and generally does not require treatment. The number of stools is related to the individual’s diet and bowel habits. If the number of stools exceeds three times a day, the stools are not formed and the abdomen is painful, it can be considered to be caused by diarrhea. The symptoms can be relieved by taking oral antidiarrheal drugs, such as montelukast, which can adsorb the water inside the intestine. Some people should be alerted to constipation, which may occur only once every two or three days, with coarse stools and sheep dung-like stools, and can lead to recurrence of hemorrhoids and anal fissures. By eating more fresh vegetables and fruits and taking honey water and senna can help with bowel movements.
