Occipital neuralgia usually hurts for a few days

Occipital neuralgia can recover gradually after active removal of the cause, which may be within 1 week or more than 2 weeks, there is no exact time.
Occurrence of occipital neuralgia is usually associated with colds, neck trauma, and cervical spondylosis, and may manifest as pins and needles, cuts, or burning pain in the posterior occipital region on one or both sides.
If infection-related, occipital neuralgia may slowly improve over a week or so as the infection improves. If occipital neuralgia is caused by neck trauma or cervical spondylosis, the recovery may be slower, and after appropriate treatment, it usually takes 1 to 2 weeks or longer for the pain to gradually decrease.
When occipital neuralgia occurs, consult a doctor to identify the cause of the condition, and take carbamazepine or pregabalin as prescribed by the doctor for pain relief and symptomatic treatment.
